The Leadership and Management Conference will have two special Keynote
presentations representing the theme of International Perspectives. The
keynote speakers are as follows:
Professor Peter Barrett
Professor Barrett is Pro-Vice
Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Salford where
he is also a long-time member and ex-director of Salford’s 6*(top) rated
Research Institute for the Built and Human Environment. He is also Chairman of
SCRI, a £3M programme of research funded by the UK research council. He has
been active in the Conseil International du Batiment for many years, as
coordinator of W65 (organization and management of construction) for which he
received the “CIB Best Coordinator Award 2001-2004”. More recently he has
assumed the Chair of the CIB Programme Committee and is a Board Member. He has
led numerous construction management research projects over the last 15 years
and has published over one hundred single volume reports and refereed papers.
He is currently working with colleagues at Cambridge University on an AHRB
project focused on briefing for the arts and is championing the CIB’s proactive
theme of Revaluing Construction. Peter is an advisor to the Swedish Government
for their “Competitive Building” multi-university postgraduate research
programme, a director of a new Japanese construction technology center led by
Shimizu, international expert to the Dutch Government’s PSIB major construction
industry reform programme, has been a Visiting Scholar at MIT and is a member of
the High Level Group of the new European Construction Technology Platform.
2006 ASCE Peurifoy Award Winner
The recipient of the ASCE 2006 Peurifoy Award, ASCE's top award for
construction research, will be giving the second keynote address. Return
